The 2010 Budget for the City of Greenwood includes $20,000.00 for the fence around Town Square that was begun last year as a part of the Veteran’s Memorial.  The Executive Committee did not want to construct the fence with the money that I got in a grant from the Arkansas Department of Rural Services.  I agree with them.  We will let the grant money build the memorial and the parks department build the fence and complete the lighting around the square to match the other decorative lighting downtown.

In the May City Council meeting, the decision was made to waive competitive bidding and allow James Weaver Masonry complete the stone work on the fence project.  Work will begin this May 12 on the stone fence columns.  The Street Department will soon begin the installation of the lighting.
