Job Summary
Under the direction of the Parks and Recreation Director, this position is responsible for the management of the Ed Wilkinson Pavilion. Assist with directing and managing Parks Department programs, events, services, and team members. Primary responsibilities include coordinating activities, budget review, cash handling, part time team supervision, hiring, and scheduling, and part time team supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists the Director in the comprehensive development, implementation and evaluation of department policies, programs, events and services to maintain a diversified and comprehensive department.
- Develops program goals and objectives to meet departmental Master Plan and community needs.
- Supervises and coordinates Summer Camp Program, schedules spaces for rentals, classes, programs, special events, activities, and coordinates equipment set up and take down for each activity. Maintains up to date inventory of rental facility supplies and misc. other supplies.
- Coordinates special events, meetings and trade shows by identifying, assembling and organizing by establishing contacts, develops schedules and assignments, manages logistics, event/entertainment contracts, coordinates public relations and marketing to ensure event success.
- Ensures proper rental procedures are followed including the collection of insurance and waivers from outside parties for all special events.
- Consults and advises the community regarding activities and facility use while providing excellent customer service.
- Assists the Director with overall departmental budget while reviewing ongoing compliance with the approved budget.
- Coordinates with Parks Director to develop an annual marketing plan, social media/website plan, social networking/website presence and marketing promotions.
- Ensures any past due invoices, program registrations, facility and park rentals are paid and up to date.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in continuing educational opportunities.
- Actively participates on committees as necessary and appropriate.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly supervises part time team members in the Parks and Recreation Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the City’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training team members; planning; assigning and directing work; appraising performance; disciplining team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Provide administrative support to each member of the Parks and Recreation team as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
- Valid Driver’s License
- CPR/First Aid Certification
- Preferred certifications (a combination of one or more of the following):
- Certified Parks & Recreation Professional (CPRP)
- Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO)
Preferred Education and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma is Required. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from college or university is Preferred.
- Must have at least 3 years of progressive responsibility in a related field.
- Experience with customer service, marketing, recreation programming, and experience with overseeing an operational budget preferred.
Knowledge and Abilities
Equipment and facilities required in a comprehensive park and recreation program. Basic principles and practices of maintenance, construction, and use of public buildings and park facilities. Principles and practices of office management and work organization. Ability to operate a personal computer, including spreadsheet and word processing software, and to create basic graphic and visual materials using design platforms such as Canva or similar tools for marketing, communication, and public outreach. Proficient in the use of standard office equipment including calculator, copy and fax machine, phone, and automobile.
