THE CITY OF GREENWOOD AND SCENIC HILL SOLAR CELEBRATE AS THEY TURN ON FIRST OF TWO SOLAR POWER PLANTS

Greenwood -- The City of Greenwood and Scenic Hill Solar have completed construction of the first of two solar power plants.  This 750 kW solar power plant will supply electricity for 98% of the City’s governmental operations located in the Arkansas Valley Electric Cooperative service territory.  The power plant is located on city owned land bordering the wastewater treatment facility.

The ceremony will be held on site adjacent to the Wastewater Treatment Facility. The site is city-owned property at 606 Jayhawker Lane, Greenwood, AR.  From E. Center Street (Highway 10), go south on Mt. Harmony Road.  Take a right on Jayhawk Lane and follow to solar field.  [Event information below.]

Doug Kinslow, Mayor of Greenwood, Arkansas stated, “We are proud to celebrate the completion of our first and largest solar power facility.  We look forward to reaping the benefits of lower electricity costs on behalf of our taxpayers while improving our environment.  It is a win-win situation for our community.”
