Sports Coach-Summer Recreation Camps

The City of Greenwood Parks and Recreation Department is committed to providing a summer of fun, learning, and outdoor recreation for youth, ages 6-13, in our community.

Our Summer Recreation Camps offer a range of sports activities, including basketball, pickleball, frisbee golf, sand volleyball, and soccer, to help campers develop their skills and foster a love of the outdoors.

Position Summary: We are seeking passionate and skilled Sports Coaches to join our team for the summer. As a Sports Coach, you will be responsible for coaching and mentoring participants in one sport (basketball, pickleball, frisbee golf, sand volleyball, or soccer) ensuring a safe and positive environment, and encouraging sportsmanship and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coach and mentor campers in assigned sport.

• Plan and lead age-appropriate sports activities and drills.

• Provide individual and group instruction to help campers improve their skills and understanding of the sport.

• Foster a positive and inclusive environment by promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect among campers.

• Monitor and ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during activities.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience coaching or playing the sport you are applying for is required.

• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of staff members.

• Energetic, enthusiastic, and passionate about working with youth.

• CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.

• Must pass a background check and drug screening.

• Must be at least 18 years of age.

• Must be available for at least 3 of the 4 weeks of camp.

Program Duration: June 1-25, 2026

Location: Bell Park, Greenwood, Arkansas

Hours: 9am-3pm, M-Th, Seasonal

Recreation Counselor-Summer Recreation Camps

Position Summary: We are seeking enthusiastic and responsible Recreation Counselors to join our dynamic team for the summer. As a Recreation Counselor, you will be responsible for leading and supervising a group of participants in various activities, ensuring a safe and fun environment, and promoting positive interactions among campers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and supervise a group of participants in daily recreational activities.

• Foster a positive and inclusive environment by encouraging teamwork, respect, and cooperation among campers.

• Monitor and ensure the safety and well-being of all participants at all times.

• Provide guidance and support to campers, addressing any behavioral or emotional concerns.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience working with children is preferred.

• Strong leadership and communication skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of staff members.

• Energetic, creative, and passionate about working with youth.

• CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.

• Must pass a background check and drug screening.

• Must be at least 16 years of age.

• Must be available for at least 3 of the 4 weeks of camp.

Program Duration: June 1-25, 2026

Location: Bell Park, Greenwood, Arkansas

Hours: 8:30am-4pm, M-Th, Seasonal
